A nurse practitioner is suing over state rules that require oversight from a doctor for her to run her practice.
Jamie Gallagher says in a lawsuit filed in Wake County Superior Court that the requirement for her to have a contract with a doctor in order to practice violates her rights and is an unnecessary expense.

North Carolina’s graduation rate reached a record high last school year as overall test proficiency climbed to its highest level in three years.
The four-year graduation rate reached 88.8%, up from 87.8% the previous year and marking the fourth consecutive annual increase, according to results the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction released Wednesday.

When members of the North Carolina House and Senate reconvene in November, they will be faced with having to decide how to regulate intoxicating hemp products. The two chambers were at odds in July over House Bill 328, which would ban hemp with more than 0.4 milligrams of THC and prohibit the sale of any hemp consumables, including CBD, to anyone under 21.
House members opted to wait until after November’s midterm elections, not wanting to upset a $4 billion industry that employs 16,000 people in North Carolina.

President Donald Trump’s executive order placing new restrictions on mail-in voting would assign state officials a Herculean task to reach compliance before the crucial midterm elections.
The order directed the U.S. Postal Service to strictly regulate the envelope design of mail-in ballots and to collect voter data from each state through an online portal, among other things.
