Attorney General Jeff Jackson announced Wednesday that Meta, the owner of Instagram and Facebook, will pay North Carolina up to $645 million and make major safety upgrades in a landmark case involving 47 states. Meta will pay unto $17.1 billion to the states in the second-largest state consumer protection settlement in history.

North Carolina’s coastal fisheries are in danger. The state failed to protect them, according to a landmark Superior Court ruling.
Following a six-year lawsuit, Judge Bryan Collins ruled last week in favor of the Coastal Conservation Association of North Carolina, saying the state’s mishandling has led to depleted fish stocks along the coast.

It has been four-and-a-half months since the Artemis II splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on April 10, but the enthusiasm and pride for what the four-member crew accomplished has not diminished one iota at one astronaut’s alma mater.
On Monday, students, faculty, and top elected officials gathered on North Carolina State University’s campus to welcome home NASA astronaut and NC State graduate Christina Hammock Koch. Koch became the first woman to travel beyond low Earth orbit, and with her crew broke the record for the farthest distance humans have ever traveled in space.

State Attorney General Jeff Jackson and other state attorneys general are suing to stop the U.S. Postal Service from controlling who receives absentee ballots.
The lawsuit stems from President Donald Trump’s executive order that would have the US Postal Service block delivery of some absentee ballots.
