A federal judge froze for two weeks a Trump administration regulation to restrict mail voting late Thursday, calling the U.S. Postal Service rule a violation of states’ power to administer elections.
U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani’s temporary restraining order reinstated a pause that she had lifted just a day earlier, following a U.S. Supreme Court procedural ruling Monday that allowed the administration to implement the policy. The federal government will likely appeal Thursday night’s order.

A state commission that okays administrative rules unanimously approved changes for elections and voting on Thursday, though at least some of those rules may not be ready in time for the midterm elections.

U.S. Rep. Chuck Edwards, a Republican representing western North Carolina, is asking his colleagues to reject his censure after a U.S. House Ethics Committee report accused him of inappropriate conduct towards two young women working in his office.
Edwards said in a 22-page letter Thursday that the committee made an “extraordinary analytical leap” in classifying his behavior as sexual harassment.

But this technology has become controversial nationwide and synonymous with Flock cameras, which take images of license plates at a singular point in time and enter them into a database where artificial intelligence catalogs vehicle characteristics, like a vehicle’s make, model and color.
